Garlic Beef Fried Rice
For the Beef | |
225 g | beef sirloin or steak, cubed |
1 tbsp | soy sauce |
1 tsp | cornstarch |
½ tsp | sesame oil |
Pinch of black pepper | |
For the Fried Rice | |
2 cups | cooked jasmine rice (cold, preferably day-old) |
2 tbsp | vegetable oil |
2 cloves | garlic, minced |
¼ cup | soy sauce |
1 tbsp | oyster sauce |
1 tsp | sugar |
½ cup | green onions, chopped (reserve some for garnish) |
Marinate the Beef |
In a bowl, mix soy sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, and black pepper. |
Add the beef cubes, coat well, and let it marinate for 15-20 minutes. |
Prepare the Sauce |
In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar. Set aside. |
Cook the Beef |
Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. |
Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside. |
Stir-Fry the Garlic and Rice |
Add the remaining 1 tbsp of oil to the skillet. |
Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (30 seconds). |
Add the cooked rice, breaking up any clumps, and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes. |
Combine |
Pour the prepared sauce over the rice and mix well. |
Add the cooked beef back into the skillet and stir to combine. |
Toss in the chopped green onions and cook for 1 more minute. |
Serve |
Garnish with extra green onions. |
