Garlic Beef Fried Rice
| For the Beef | |
| 225 g | beef sirloin or steak, cubed |
| 1 tbsp | soy sauce |
| 1 tsp | cornstarch |
| ½ tsp | sesame oil |
| Pinch of black pepper | |
| For the Fried Rice | |
| 2 cups | cooked jasmine rice (cold, preferably day-old) |
| 2 tbsp | vegetable oil |
| 2 cloves | garlic, minced |
| ¼ cup | soy sauce |
| 1 tbsp | oyster sauce |
| 1 tsp | sugar |
| ½ cup | green onions, chopped (reserve some for garnish) |
| Marinate the Beef |
| In a bowl, mix soy sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, and black pepper. |
| Add the beef cubes, coat well, and let it marinate for 15-20 minutes. |
| Prepare the Sauce |
| In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar. Set aside. |
| Cook the Beef |
| Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. |
| Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside. |
| Stir-Fry the Garlic and Rice |
| Add the remaining 1 tbsp of oil to the skillet. |
| Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (30 seconds). |
| Add the cooked rice, breaking up any clumps, and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes. |
| Combine |
| Pour the prepared sauce over the rice and mix well. |
| Add the cooked beef back into the skillet and stir to combine. |
| Toss in the chopped green onions and cook for 1 more minute. |
| Serve |
| Garnish with extra green onions. |
| Serve hot and enjoy! |
