Homemade air fryer Chips
| 2 large | potatoes (russet or any variety suitable for frying) |
| 2 tbsp | olive oil or vegetable oil |
| Salt and pepper to taste | |
Optional: your choice of seasoning such as paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, or herbs like rosemary or thyme
Preheat Your Air Fryer
Preheat your air fryer to 190°C for about 3-5 minutes.
Prepare Potatoes
Wash and scrub the potatoes thoroughly to remove any dirt. You can peel them if desired, but leaving the skin on adds extra texture and nutrition.
Slice Potatoes
Using a sharp knife or a mandoline slicer, slice the potatoes into thin rounds or strips, about 1/8 inch thick. Ensure they are uniform in thickness for even cooking.
Soak in Water (Optional)
Soak the potato slices in cold water for about 30 minutes to remove excess starch. This step helps in achieving a crispier texture.
Dry and Season
After soaking, drain the potato slices and pat them dry with paper towels. Place them in a bowl and drizzle with olive oil or vegetable oil. Toss the slices until they are evenly coated with oil. Season with salt, pepper, and any other desired seasonings.
Air Fry
Arrange the potato slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they are not overlapping. You may need to cook them in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
Cook
Cook the potato slices in the preheated air fryer for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through the cooking time. Keep an eye on them towards the end to prevent overcooking. Adjust the cooking time based on your desired level of crispiness.
Serve
Once the chips are golden brown and crispy, remove them from the air fryer and transfer to a serving plate. Enjoy your homemade air fryer chips as a delicious snack or side dish!
