Homemade air fryer Chips
2 large | potatoes (russet or any variety suitable for frying) |
2 tbsp | olive oil or vegetable oil |
Salt and pepper to taste | |
Optional: your choice of seasoning such as paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, or herbs like rosemary or thyme |
Preheat Your Air Fryer |
Preheat your air fryer to 190°C for about 3-5 minutes. |
Prepare Potatoes |
Wash and scrub the potatoes thoroughly to remove any dirt. You can peel them if desired, but leaving the skin on adds extra texture and nutrition. |
Slice Potatoes |
Using a sharp knife or a mandoline slicer, slice the potatoes into thin rounds or strips, about 1/8 inch thick. Ensure they are uniform in thickness for even cooking. |
Soak in Water (Optional) |
Soak the potato slices in cold water for about 30 minutes to remove excess starch. This step helps in achieving a crispier texture. |
Dry and Season |
After soaking, drain the potato slices and pat them dry with paper towels. Place them in a bowl and drizzle with olive oil or vegetable oil. Toss the slices until they are evenly coated with oil. Season with salt, pepper, and any other desired seasonings. |
Air Fry |
Arrange the potato slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they are not overlapping. You may need to cook them in batches depending on the size of your air fryer. |
Cook |
Cook the potato slices in the preheated air fryer for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through the cooking time. Keep an eye on them towards the end to prevent overcooking. Adjust the cooking time based on your desired level of crispiness. |
Serve |
Once the chips are golden brown and crispy, remove them from the air fryer and transfer to a serving plate. Enjoy your homemade air fryer chips as a delicious snack or side dish! |
